A groundbreaking ceremony marked the start of work on a new mixed-use high-rise complex from Lendlease along the waterfront in Brooklyn’s Greenpoint neighborhood.
Guests gathered on a 4th floor terrace with spectacular views overlooking the Hudson River and the 1 Java construction site. On that site Lendlease will build an 834-unit, 2.6-acre residential development on a full city block along the Greenpoint waterfront in Brooklyn, including a beautiful new waterfront esplanade with connection to the India Street Pier and NYC Water Ferry.
When completed in 2025, 1 Java will be “the largest residential apartment complex in the U.S. to be heated by geothermal energy,” CNBC reported. “Using geothermal will reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by an estimated 53%, but it will cost about 6% more to build.”
We kept it local with Greenpoint vendors. Edy’s Grocer delighted guests with their signature Brown Paper Board featuring overnight oats, Za’atar croissants, biscuits and empanadas. A guitarist and saxophonist from Brooklyn Music School played upbeat songbook standards.
“The ceremony with our executives and partners overlooking the property and the East River was flawless,” said the client. Lendlease’s public relations firm called on us to coordinate this high-profile event in New York City.
