The Bloomingdale Trail 5k is an annual family-friendly event with a timed 5k run as well as quarter and half mile dashes for younger runners. Participants enjoy beautiful views of the city while dashing above neighborhoods on the celebrated, elevated Bloomingdale Trail.
Runners began and finished at the McCormick YMCA on the west end of the trail. A free digital photo was taken of each participant, shareable on socials. Chicago Signs & Screens live-printed bandanas. The WasteShed led a button-making session. Runners enjoyed churros, bananas courtesy of Armitage Produce, iced coffee courtesy of Metropolis Coffee Company, pre-race and post-race stretching by Athletico, and a mid-race water station hosted by the Camille Canales Group.
We loved being involved in this event – recruiting and training volunteers, creating a list of prospective sponsors, soliciting sponsors and in-kind donors, working with generous partners, promoting the event in the community and beyond, working on behind-the-scenes details, and helping to execute the spirited and successful event.
