A Safe Place is a non-profit organization in Northern Illinois that serves individuals and families impacted by domestic violence. The “Break the Silence – Unmask the Violence” gala raises money for programs that support survivors of domestic violence and their families.

Silent and live auctions, a travel drawing, pledge appeal and donations bring in much-needed funds. During one gala, a special anniversary cake celebrating the organization’s 35th year of service brought in a $5,000 bid in the silent auction; the cake was immediately served at the winning bidder’s table of ten!

WGN-TV weekend anchor and reporter Jackie Bange served as mistress of ceremonies. Guests enjoyed an opportunity for photos in front of the Step & Repeat banner.
